Secret Santa 2021 : Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (2014)

What is up guys! I hope everyone is doing well as the holidays approach, I am back with my post for the 2021 Secret Santa project hosted by the AGC Podcast. As someone who isn't a celebrator of Christmas, this is a project I look forward to every year and I can say that this year did not disappoint because I was given a gem of a Anime to watch.

Let's jump right into the review. The anime I'm reviewing is one that I'm ashamed that I missed before because it's right down my alley of Anime genres but better late than never I suppose. The anime that I will be reviewing is none other than... Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun, an anime that premiered in 2014.

I will start off by saying that Monthly Girls is the perfect example of what you get when you take a comedy Anime and bases it around Romance and then throw in a dose of Host Club type hijinks. The first thing that stood out to me what that each character had their own personality that made them stand out from each other, there is Nozaki who is more or less the main character, he is a popular Manga artist, and everything he does from playing video games to even just drinking tea is used as potential manga material, then we have Chiyo his unofficial assistant who also happens to be in love with him so she goes along with any and all questionable ideas.

this Anime also has a great cast of support characters, we have Mikoto who is Nozaki's friend and who has his own set of issues mainly female related. Next, we have my personal favorite Yuzuki who has zero and I repeat zero concern for anyone no matter the situation. She is hyper, over the top, and a bit destructive, and as she once said on the basketball court "As long as in on the court, I aint benching for anyone". Last(well for this post) we have Yuu who is a total Ladies Man despite also being a Lady and being in love with her Drama Club President Hori.

While I would not call this Anime Episodic, It does flow from adventure to adventure and does keep a few central plots based on each character that keep the show interesting and hilarious. As someone who loves a bit of random comedy, I enjoyed how this show just always hit you with something unexpected and would throw comedy in somewhere you didn't expect. It also did a very good job of getting you invested in each character and I found myself eager to see what kind of trouble they would find themselves in next.

As a big fan of Visual Novels, one of my favorite episodes is the one Where Nozaki and Mikoto play a visual novel and ill just say by the end of it I was in tears from laughing so much. I recommend this anime to anyone who is a fan of Comedy and if you enjoy series such as Host Club you will love this show.

This is by far one of the best shows I have watched this year and It made this project that much more fun. Well, I thank you all for reading and I hope you all have a great Holiday and New Year!

Movie Review! Aim For The Ace! (1979)

What is up everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, and I am back this month with another review for you all. Doing these monthly post have really been great because its allowing me to get threw my backlog more and in turn bring you guys even more random reviews lol.

The Anime for review this week is one that from what I can tell is held in pretty high regard. That anime is Aim For The Ace, although ill be reviewing the movie which is a condensed version of the series. I will say though for a 70s Anime it does a solid job of establishing it's story.

The movie gets started by introducing us to our main character Hiromi, who is a freshman that is joining the Tennis team for her school. Early on we see that while she does have a passion for the sport she is still a bit rough around the edges but with the team getting a coach change, we see her getting pushed into the spotlight.

As I mentioned the team gets a new coach and he is your typical hard hitting no-nonsense character that believes in pushing the girls to do their best even if they dont understand his methods. This is where we start to get into the meat of the movie because they start planning out who will be in the lineup for the next tournament and he decides that Hiromi will join the lineup over a player that helped them win a championship in the past.

This turns the team on her and while I wont be to harsh given that this movie is basically just a recap, at this point the Anime starts to do what seems to be random jumps and time skips and for me it really threw off the flow of the film.

Ill stop the review here so that I wont spoil anything if you do decide to watch. While I do think the middle of the movie gets a little iffy, I will say it was a a pretty good watch and I did enjoy it for what it was and I can see why it is so highly regarded. If you would like to watch it, I was only able to find it on Vimeo.

Thank you all for reading, ill be back next month with my Secret Santa 2021 post so be on the lookout for that.

OVA Review! 6 Angels (01/02)

What is up guys! We are back this month with another review for you guys. I hope everyone has been doing feel and hope you all had a good September, last month was actually pretty busy for me, I went to a International Night Market that was pretty fun and I got to do a pop up shop for my business that went really well. .

The review for today was technically supposed to come a few months ago but I was having trouble tracking down the whole series for a bit but today im finally bringing you the review. So here we are and the review for today is of the Anime 6 Angels.

6 Angels is a bit of a weird one so I will try to break it down without spoiling to much, the basis of the story is that we have a secret female police force that has been tasked with taking down prisoners who have used radiation and nuclear bombs to start a riot. If you think that sounds a bit confusing then you would be right because until I read the description on Myanimelist I had no idea that prisoners starting a riot had anything to do with the story.

We get our main Villain in the form of Tony Kane who looks like Trigun on some of that special juice lol. The anime has a weird way of just having the story randomly just happen with no real form of why a character is being introduced. From episode to episode I found the character interactions hard to follow and at times you couldn't tell which characters were allies and who were not.

This is a 6 episode OVA series and by episode 5 we start to lead up to the final battle and resolution and to be fair it gets even weirder because we get introduced to the character Mom who is basically a Angel.

Ill stop here so I wont spoil anything but I cant say that I recommend this Anime, its a early 2000s Anime that feels like a 80s Anime and not in a good way. The anime takes all the bad storytelling from the 80s and applies it here but only worse. The anime is on Youtube although its not easy to find but there is a playlist for it.

Thank you for reading! We are closing in on the end of the year and Im hoping to close it out with a bag in the next few months. I hope you all look forward to the new post next month and until then have a great October!

Blade & Soul: Forgotten Anime 26?

What is up guys! We are back this month with another new post for you guys. I hope everyone has been doing well. Originally this post was going to be a OVA review but I may have gotten a little lazy so instead im bringing you guys a Forgotten Anime post, but I hope you still enjoy it.

I was digging threw my completed list to try and find the Anime to discuss for this post and I had two or three I was picking between, but I decided to pick one that I enjoyed but Thought really overstayed its welcome so the Anime for today is Blade and Soul

Blade and Soul is a anime from back in 2014 and was based off of a Game. To give a quick rundown of what the Anime is About a assassin named Alka is on search to find the woman who killed her master and her goal is to get revenge. Its a pretty basic Anime premise but the story was actually solid and I will say the anime was really good......for about 9 episodes. I think the anime is forgotten because the anime really overstayed its welcome. The main story of the anime actually wraps up pretty decently in episode 12 and instead of that being it, they decided to tact on a episode 13 that really just felt out of place and was something that should have either been a middle filler episode or a dvd bonus OVA.

Blade and Soul I think fell victim to a basic story overshadowing solid animation and solid action. I think some just say the story and didn't want to bother getting invested because it was a story they have seen before, but I would say that if you haven't seen it I would recommend it because overall it did do a good job with what was provided. I gave it a 8/10 on myanimelist.

I hope you guys enjoyed the post and if you do decide to watch the Anime leave me a comment and tell me what you thought. I will see you guys next month with a new post so until then stay safe and have a great Labor Day!

OVA Review : Wedding Peach DX ( 96/97)

What is up everyone! Guess who is finally back with another post for you guys. I know it seems like forever since ive posted a new review but the return is on! Before I start the review I just want to give a quick update on the next posting schedule, to help keep things a bit more organized, from now on there will be a new post once a month. The plan is to post on the first month of every month but there will be one a post once a month for sure. Alright now on to the review.

Alright, so the Anime that is up for review this week is non other than Wedding Peach DX. Now first ill start by saying I haven't seen the full Wedding Peach series so I went into this OVA blind but they do give you a little bit of backstory so it helped. Alright so lets just dive right in.

Episode 1 was basically your introduction/ Beach episode, here we meet the main characters who we later learn are angels Momoko, Yuri, Scarlet, and Hinagiku. We get our characters taking a trip to the beach and while there they run into these two guys who are basically just at the beach to get women and for a bit it actually works. After the two girls turn decide hanging out with them is going nowhere they decide to leave and this is basically where the episode takes a turn. From here the guys turn to jerks, get beat up and then the Angels start to remember who they really are. I wont spoil from here but thats the basics of the first episode.

Episode two sees the Angels, who now are fully aware of who they are go to a dinner party and here at the party Scarlet meets a guy and they form a connection and he wants her to marry him. She does consider his proposal until she finds out he has a hidden agenda and finds out that his motives are not pure or about love. Not a weak episode but the pacing was pretty fast and didnt flow well.

Episode 3 is probably the weakest but maybe the most enjoyable. This episode is a Christmas episode  and its basically just them shopping with a friend of theirs, who by the way has a dope catch phase she uses but she is basically just comic relief in this episode until she steals something that causes commotion to happen and of course a big fight.

The last episode is a Valentines day episode and a bit of a weird one.  In this episode there is a guy who hates love and wants to stop it from spreading. He also turns the girls into rabbits...yes rabbits. Its a bit odd to explain so this one you just have to see.

Overall these episodes just seem to feel thrown together and there is no flow between them. They all feel like they were just extras that didnt make the cut for the original series. Was it terrible? not really but unless your a fan of the original series I dont recommend it at all.

Thank you guys for reading and I hope you enjoyed it. I will be back next month with a new post for you guys, so until them stay safe.

Air Gear: Forgotten Anime 25?

What is up everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend and are having a great week. Im coming back this week with another insert into the forgotten Anime series. You can thank the Anime Sk8 The Infinity for helping me decide what anime to discuss because it reminds me so much of this show.

The Anime in question today, is the one and the only Air Gear! If you have seen air gear them I think you will realize why it reminds me of Sk8 and both are two of my favorite animes.

I didnt watch Air gear until 2019 or early 2020 but Air Gear originally came out way back in 2006 and to keep the description simple its about people who Inline Skate with these skates are a bit different and it involves different crews of skaters  as well as a deeper backstory behind the whole thing.

Air Gear is a well known Anime but its also one of those Anime's that doesnt get recommended alot you just stumble across it and think "ive heard of that". I will say the story can get a little weird when it comes to the backstory.

If you are someone like myself who is  a big fan of extreme sports then I really think you will enjoy this Anime but you will also love the story and the characters. I highly recommend this Anime and with it being dubbed its a really easy watch. I will point out though, there is a 3 episode OVA sequel but there are a few chapters of the manga that you need to read first before you watch those episodes.

Thank you all for reading, and hope you enjoy Air Gear if you check it out!

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo: Forgotten Anime 24?

What is up everyone! Hope you are all doing well. While planning out another blog post, this one sort of fell into my lap. I heard that this Anime was having a anniversary so I figured now would be a good time to discuss it.

The Anime in question is one that is criminally overlooked and that is the one and only......Bobobobo. If you have never seen or experienced Bobobo then it will throw you for a loop for sure but it is hilarious. I remember discovering Bobobo back on Toonami and back then I still wasn't really aware of Anime I just referred to everything as a Cartoon but I remember watching and I knew that I wasn't watching DBZ.

The one thing that always made the anime stand out was the characters, I mean when your main character has a big yellow afro and um nose hairs that he fights with its going to be hard to ignore that.

I'm not sure how big of a fan base the show gathered here in the states, but it was on tv during a time where Toonami wasn't the strongest and for me introduced me to the more comedic side of Shonen anime and I would say if you enjoy something like One Piece, this would be right down your alley.

I would highly recommend the series for any far of Comedy Shonen and just a good laugh in general. Well that's it for this post, I just wanted to shine a little light on it for its anniversary. How you enjoy.

OVA Review: 1+2= Paradise(1990)

Happy New Years everyone! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. Ive been doing pretty well and im excited to bring you guys the first blog of 2021. The OVA im  bringing you guys today is one that sums up 90s Anime perfectly because it truly does not know what the meaning of censored is.

Im not exactly sure how I found out about this anime but ive watched it so that you dont have to, the Anime that im mentioning is called 1+2= Paradise. Where do I start with this anime, the premise is based around the main character Yuusuke who's dad is trying to cure him of his fear of women. What's the best cure for this you may ask....well his dad invites two beautiful twins to come and live with them in hopes that his son will marry one of them

The show from this point basically goes in the direction that im sure you all could have guessed that it would but we do get some backstory on him and the twins that was pretty interesting. That basically sums up episode 1 or at least the PG parts of it but episode 2 takes a really weird turn and a great portion of the episode takes place in a floating circus...yes a floating circus. I wont go into much detail but they throw in a third woman and she sort of kidnaps Yuusuke.

As much as I enjoy pervy anime, at times even this was a little to pervy for me because it was just so frequent with everything and you never got a break from it. Im pretty sure its a obscure 90s anime so based on that I would recommend it but unless you really have some free time dont go out of your way to watch it but if you do you can watch it on Animefreak.

This year I plan to bring you guys plenty of reviews and hope to really improve this blog in 2021. Thank you for reading!
