Secret Santa 2018 Review: Redline

Hello everybody this is davius, I am back with a new blog post. This blog post will be for the secret santa project that is done by the reverse thieves podcast every year, this is my second or third time participating in the project and it is always a blast to do. I always find new animes to watch and some that I either really love or may not like at all but it's always good to add some more to my list. I watched a movie that has been on my list for a few years now and that movie is called Red Line, I've had it on my backlog for a few years now and I just never got around to actually watching it so when it came up this year during the project I knew it was a perfect time to go ahead and watch the movie and see what it's about at the same same time. I always heard really good things about the movie and so I was curious as to if it lived up to the hype or if it would Crash and Burn. Here is my review of Redline.

The first thing that I noticed while watching Redline is the art style, the art style is very artistic very bright colors that pop when you watch it and the style is just very creative but that's really the only positive about the movie. The movie is kind of everywhere and the premise of the movie is that it's about a race, a sort of Galactic race kind of like Speed Racer so think of Speed Racer meets apocalyptic world and that is basically what red line is. Your main character  is a Space Dandy type character he has the big hair just like Space Dandy  and while he is not pervy like Space Dandy, he does have some of those characteristics. He is the main racer for his team, you learn that his main mechanic got him some trouble with the mafia at one point and is sort of trying to sabotage his race.

the movie continues to sort of go on as we built up to the redline race, we go to the process of him trying to make his car faster with bigger engines, then we get  a little bit of back story with him and one of the female characters in the show and you find out that they did know each other when they were younger she was a young racer in the yellow line series which is sort of like the lower level of NASCAR,  and while she was doing those races he was in the amateur class races and they kind of clashed a little and there with just a little Trash Talk between each other.

Towards the end we get the big red line race and in the meantime the Space Police is there to try to sabotage the race, even though one of the government members is actually in the race, and while in the race the government member  sort of turns Rogue and decided that he wants to win the race for himself so he is kind of  considered a criminal because he wants to win. him and JP go head to head towards the end to see who can win the race, JD's mechanic and the older mechanic comes in to help save the younger mechanic from the mafia he comes in guns blazing shoots the henchmen and also shoots the main head of the mafia and killing them. they sit there and watch the rest of the race and they decide to go ahead and blow JP's car up to help give him that extra boost, so when they blow the car up him and the guy from the government go head-to-head. The government car is  blue Lightning while JP's car is red lightning and I must say it is probably the most beautiful thing in the whole movie, it is gorgeous just seeing the rays of light going toward the finish line and then JP wins the race with the girl by his side.

While redline is not a bad movie I cant say that it is a great movie, you have a decent movie at best. Its very colorful and is very fast paced but that's basically it, the story is just okay it's basically just leading up to one race for hour and then we get the race and the movie is over. It could have easily been a ova series with about maybe two or three episodes and that would have done just fine instead of a movie, so I would have to give it a 7 out of 10. If you want watch it it's dubbed and I have to say it is not a bad movie it's a lot of fun to watch it's very very fast-paced so if you like fast-paced action anime movies this is definitely a movie for you but if you're not into the whole bright colors and lots of action happening everywhere then this movie is not for you I want to say thank you for whoever recommended this movie to me and I'm glad you did because I finally got a chance to watch it so thank you very much. I think that's basically it everybody have a great New Year and a great Christmas and so until next time

The Pilot's Love Song: Forgotten Anime 13?

Hey guys! hope you are all doing well, sorry I haven't posted much lately ive just been busy with school and work but this is one of two new post that will be up in the following weeks so yay lol. First ill be back with this post and then the second post will be my post for the Reverse Thieves Secret Santa Project so im excited for that.

So today I am back with another forgotten anime, and apparently I had also forgotten this anime even though I loved it when I was watching it. This anime is called The Pilot's Love Song and it came out in the Winter 2014 anime season. The first thing I remember about the series was the interactions between the students at the pilot school, it reminds me a bit like Attack on Titan especially once the series picks up. Like most of these forgotten animes it came out in a season with a few big series such as Hamatora and Space Dandy.

I feel like this show got forgotten just because overtime I dont think it really clicked with alot of fans and if the reviews on MAL are any indication people thought it was just ok at best but I personally rated the show a 10/10. The show does have a high school feel to it but for me I found the story and characters to be really captivating and interesting.

Overall I would recommend this show to anyone who loves anime about pilots, planes or even just those high school slice of life types of anime that actually has a good story this anime will be for you and im glad to shine some light on it.

Well I hope you enjoyed my ramble and hope you will be back for my next post, so until next time have a great day and.....

Hanebado! The Underwhelming Sports Anime

Hey guys! Hope you are all doing well, sorry I havent posted a blog in a while but school and work have been keeping me busy but they will be coming on a more regular basis from now on. To all my Georgia Otakus I hope you all have a great weekend at AWA, Im not able to go this year due to car trouble but hope you all stay safe.

So as we come to the end of this current season of anime, I must say I have been enjoying a few shows especially Banna Fish( My show of the season) but there is one show that has just not lived up to the hype(not sure if there was any lol) and that show us the sports anime Hanebado! the badminton anime.

I dont know where to start talking about Hanebado! its half sports anime half slice of life anime and its not a really a good version of either genre. At times the competition aspect of the show is intense but at times the play just seems a weak plot point. The show also especially during the first few episodes does this weird Villain of the week thing where we give one of the main characters Ayano past opponents to play against all of which seem to hate her for one reason or another. I also want to mention that Ayano's personality switch while due to her past I understand why it happens at the same time it happens so randomly that it just lacks impact.

If you enjoy this show by all means I dont mean to bash it or to make it sound like its a horrible Anime, I just feel like the pacing is really bad and with the way certain characters pop in and out it doesnt give you a chance to feel attached and to be honest if this show wasnt 13 episodes I would have dropped it but I am curious to see how its going to wrap up.

Sorry for ranting on for a while. but i hope you all enjoy the post and oh I will say Nagisa is my favorite from the show so see I dont dislike everything lol. Well until my next post I hope you all have a great weekend!

Twin Star Exorcists: Forgotten Anime 12?

Hey guys! hope everyone is doing well, first I would like to say thank you for all the views on the blog and I hope you guys have been enjoying the content. There will be more blogs coming and im hoping to have them come out every Wednesday. Today im bringing you guys another Forgotten anime post and the anime im discussing is one that Im a bit shocked about because I didnt expect it to be overlooked or pushed aside. The anime of discussion for today is none other than Twin Star Exorcists.

Twin Star Exorcists is a anime that debuted during the Spring 2016 anime season, and fun fact I had just read the first volume of the manga a few months before the anime was announced. Given how great I thought the manga was I was really excited for the anime and couldnt wait to see the rest of the story. Now given that this is a forgotten anime post I must say that I did drop the show but not because it was bad but because I got to far behind and I was just a bit to lazy to catch up.

Now the show did come out during the same season as a small anime that you may know called My Hero Academia, and while I personally think Twin Star is a lot better given that they were both Shonen animes I can see why Twin Star may have gotten lost in the Shonen shuffle. I do plan to go back pretty soon and revisit this series and I honestly wouldnt mind seeing it pop up on Toonami because I think it would be a perfect fit.

The show does have a dub, so hopefully that will draw some people to it that may have not watched before or who dropped the series as I did before. Well I hope that this post will shine a little light on the series because I do think its a awesome series. As always thanks for reading!

Movie Review: Black Butler Book Of Atlantic

Hey guys! Hope you all are doing well and I hope you all had a great 4th of July. I finally have another review to give you guys. In case I havent mentioned it before, I am a huge Black Butler fan; So when I heard that they were going to start releasing arcs in OVA and Movie form I was really excited. So the review I have for you guys today in none other than Black Butler: Book of Atlantic.

To start off, this movie is what you would get if the Titanic had not hit an iceberg and instead had a zombie outbreak. Ok now that I have given you a visual lets see where to begin, We do start off with Sebastian and Ciel on the ship where they are there to investigate the Aurora Society. We get some familiar faces from the first two movies which was fun to see. The movie really starts to pick up when we see Sebastian and Ciel go undercover as members of the Society and this leads to one of the greatest secret passwords ever, I wont spoil it you just have to see it.

Once they are inside of the society we see what will eventually turn into the main plot of this story and from here the movie moves at a pretty high speed, there is alot of slicing and blood and just trying to survive. I will say that this movie really gives us some great character development and If you dont follow the manga as I dont it will defiantly have you wanting to read it. We do get  grell appearance and he is as awesome as every and we get some great moments from him. Dare I say the real stars of this movie are Elizabeth and Undertaker, We get to see that Elizabeth is truly a badass and we got to see that the undertaker is not what he appeared to be and I must say both caught me off guard especially Elizabeth.

I will defiantly say this is my favorite Movie next to Book of Circus, the plot is not strong but the character development more than makes up for that. If you are a Black Butler fan Then this is a must see I dont think you will be disappointed , If your someone who was just a casual Black Butler and have not seen the series in a while I feel pretty comfortable saying that You can watch this and not feel like you have missed anything. I would have to give this a 8/10, and It is dubbed so you should be able to find it on Funnimation.

Thank you all for reading and hope you enjoy!

OVA Review: Aki Sora -Yume no Naka

Hey guys! Finally back with another post for you guys today. I hope everyone is having a great week so far, I know I am because its con week. First I will give you guys a quick update, I will be planning to start uploading blogs every Wednesday (hopefully) so that I can give you guys content on a regular basis. Also I wanted to point out that im sure most of you have seen the player that have been added to the blog, that is for a new side podcast that is different from our youtube podcast so I hope you all enjoy it also.

The anime that I am here to review today is the sequel to a anime that I reviewed for our side podcast and this anime is Aki Sora ~Yume no Naka. Let me say this is a hentai, a detail i was not aware of until I watched the first series. I will say, given that this season of the show has 2 episodes, its a step up in the quality of story not that there was anywhere to go but up after that first series. What I did enjoy about the series is that we got to see more backstory not only from Aki ( the sister) and Sora( the brother), but we also got a really good backstory from the other sister Nami and we got to see that even though her and Sora are twins she is pretty envious and jealous of him which I didnt expect. With this being a hentai of course that means there is sex but you also realize just how strange the relationship between Aki and Sora is because not only are they having a intimate relationship but they are also ridiculously reliant on each other and to a certain degree Aki has convinced Sora that she is the only person that he can depend on and Sora has not backbone to be able to stand up to her.

While this series was defiantly a upgrade from the first season, its still not a great show, if you enjoy hentai this this is for you and if you like fan service then I would also recommend it but if your looking for a balance for story and fan-service the ratio here is about 90% to 10% and while the backstory is decent its not really worth the time unless you have the time to waste.

Sorry the font is so small I keep editing it but it wont stick so sorry if you guys have a hard time reading it.

Soul Eater Not! Forgotten Anime 11?

Hey Guys! Hope you all are doing well. Con season is in full effect, I went to Tekko in Pittsburgh and had a great time and LM.C was epic, next up is MoMocon here in Georgia and im looking forward to it.

So I am back today to bring you guys another forgotten anime discussion, I have been wanting to do another one for a while but I was not sure what anime to discuss until I scanned threw my list on MAL and I found the perfect show to discuss. The show I will be discussing today is the one and only......Soul Eater Not!.

Soul Eater Not was a spin-off of the anime Soul Eater, and it debuted in 2014. Soul Eater Not takes place a year before the events in Soul Eater. Before I started watching this series, I have bought the first volume of the manga and I didnt really think it was anything special but once the anime came out I decided to watch it and I actually really enjoyed the series. The main reason I am doing this as a forgotten anime is because The series didnt get alot of positive feedback at least from what I saw and people just did not care for the series. While the series Is not as great as the original I still thought it was a solid show and I enjoyed that it was a little more light-hearted  in sections.

I didnt realize that it had been 2014 when this series debuted because after it was over I have heard no one talk about the series and its as if the show just disappeared off the anime map, so I wanted to try and shine a little light on a series that I felt didnt get a fair shot because as they say "the sequel  is never as good as the Original".

Alright that does it for this discussion, Thank you all for reading!

Tiger and Bunny: Forgotten Anime 10?

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well. I know I havent done one of these in a while, but I am finally back with a forgotten anime. This one will be a Little different because while researching for this overview I see that their is a second series that has just been green lit. This series that I am referring to is the one and only Tiger and bunny.

I did not realize that it was 2011 when Tiger and Bunny first came out, I was never a huge fan of the show, I remember watching probably the first 3 maybe 4 episodes of the series, but I always thought the concept was Awesome and I wish I had gone back and finished it up. When I look back at the 2011 season the only show I see that I really watched that year was Mayo Chiki! which if I havent told yall i love love LOVE that show lol.

What made me choose this series to do a forgotten anime on is that I remember when this series was out alot of people were in love with it and I remember seeing the cosplays at alot of cons that I went to, but after a few years it seemed like the hype sort of died down, and that could be due to the lake of a second season( even thought I was sure there was one) but I just stopped hearing anyone talk about the show and the cosplay died down. I think that it is good news that a new series will be coming out so hopefully that will bring interest back into the first series.

Well thank you all for reading as always and If you were a fan of the series let me know by leaving a comment. Until next time

Another Japanese Otaku sends threats to Voice actor.....This has to stop

Hello everyone, hope your all having a great Wednesday! I was hoping not to do another post about this topic, but once again the creepy side of the Otaku culture has poked its head out again. Once again I was browsing on ANN like I normally do, and what do I find but yet another article about another grown otaku male sending threats to another female voice actor. This guy who was 32 and unemployed was arrested for sending a email to the agency for the voice actor Ayana Taketatsu. the even scarier thing about this story was that the agency reported that they have received over 7,000 threats aimed at Ayana. To this that 7,000 people feel that a person they have never meet or probably never spoken to in real life has "offended" them so much that they take out time to threaten them is not only creepy but shows that some people have some serious mental problems and really need proper help. These people act as if these voice actors and idols owe them their lives and as soon as they do something that the fan thinks is "shameful" they want that person to pay and its usually with their lives, Im not sure how you can get tighter security for this but something has to be done because we live in a age where tracking people is easier than ever to do so they need to get a handle on this problem before someone follows threw on their threat.

Sorry if I rambled on I just wanted to address that because those story always creep me out and I find them disturbing. So until next time
